Lulzsec

Lulzsec or Lulz Security is a hacking group with its core members comprising of 6 male hackers. Lulzsec itself has been disbanded since its core members have all been caught.

The core members each used aliases to hide their true identity, those aliases are:
  • Sabu (Leader) - Hector Xavier Monsegur

  • Topiary - Jake Davis

  • Kayla/KMS - Ryan Ackroyd

  • T-Flow - Unnamed (Minor)

  • Anarchaos - Jeremy Hammond

  • Pwnsauce - Darren Martyn
Some other contributors to Lulzsec's efforts include:
  • Palladium - Donncha O'Cearrbhail
Lulzsec was the hacker group responsible for the mass hacking of the PSN (Playstation Network) which resulted in thousands of users details and credit card numbers from being stolen.

It is also well known that Kayla (Ryan Achroyd) was in control of a massive botnet which was used in many of Lulzsec's DDOS attacks. This botnet had roughly 800,000 devices.

Other operations which Lulzsec participated included their '50 days of lulz' campaign in which they hacked many sites (government, corporations and public) and exposed information about those sites.

Another affiliation with Lulzsec is that they also joined anonymous for some of their operations, this splinter group which was a combined force of Lulsec and some anonmyous hackers was called Antisec.

It is well known that Lulzsec used to communicate with each other over IRC channels in order for the group to work together on taking down targets.

Lulzsec seems to hack for the 'Lulz' rather for any financial gain or purpose.

Lulzsec's logo was a man with a top hat drinking a glass of wine (below).
