Anonymous

Anonymous is a collective group who's entire ideology is based around the concept of true anonymity and freedom.
Despite popular beliefs anonymous has no leader and there is no hierarchy, this means that there is no direct control among members.

Anonymous itself is conprised of splinter groups which have their own concepts and plans, these groups within the concept all have complete anonymity. Because there is no visual named target, this gives anonymous hackers an edge over governments and corporations who wish to find its members.

Another popular belief is that anonymous comprises entirely of hackers, however time and time again they have shown that the hackers are the minority in the group, yet because of the controversial and obvious tactics they employ it creates a mirage which makes the entire anonymous group seem adept at hacking. In fact the majority of the members within anonymous tend to be those who attend protests.
One of the most common ways of which anonymous will attack its targets seem to be through DDOS although they have been known to employ other methods.

For a long time, it has shown (both through statements and through actions) that anonymous are firmly against online censorship and seem to retaliate attempts at censoring material on the internet.

Anonymous participants tend to wear the V for Vendetta mask for the purpose of anonymity in public, whereas the symbol for anonops (Anonymous Operations) is a suited figure with a ? for its head.

Some anonymous hackers also joined an operation called Antisec, this group was comprised of Lulzsec and other hacker groups.

It is thought that anonymous hackers contact each other through IRC in order to agree on targets and create operations.
