Anonymous Releases 1.7 Gb of data from the American Bureau of Justice

This week anonymous has released information from the American Bureau of Justice's servers. The information contains various internal emails and an entire database dump, this information was readily available on the pirate bay as a torrent download.
The torrents contents was announced on AnonNews.org.

The announcement also contains an unmasked anonymous member posing as a news reporter state that the only thing left for the american government to do about hacking is to shut down the internet itself.
The conclusion to the announcement ended with: 'And now, expect a whole lot more'.

The bureau of justice itself has confirmed the data theft although the website (and other government websites) were unhindered.

Recently it appears that Anonymous's attacks have been more common and with more order. The pirate bay prediction made earlier this year seems to be coming true. Perhaps 2012 really is the 'year of the storm'.

Rogue anonymous member DDOS's the piratebay

A lone anonymous rogue has identified themself as the cause of the DDOS attach which the pirate bay has been experiencing for the last few datys. The DDOS attack lasted 24 hours on wednesday (16th May), yet this individual threatens that this attack may continue for another week.
This individual has identified themself as AnonNyre and claims to have renounced the anonymous collective and helped various policing forces.
AnonNyre made an announcement in the style of anonymous, however they did it with with a twist, they announced their intentions and then told anonymous to 'expect yourself'.
The anonymous collective claim not to know who AnonNyre is, however they may be taking matters into their own hands to trace this hacker.
AnonNyre has since reported that he may be actually known within the collective by other individuals.

It is not yet confirmed whether this person used to be in the anonymous collective or whether they are simply wanting to spread paranoia throughout anonymous.

Either way, Ill keep my ear to the ground for more information.

The Jester

The Jester (th3j35t3r) is known to be a self proclaimed grey hat hacker. The Jester claims to carry out his/her attacks due to their American patriotism.
One of the main ways which the Jester uses to attack their target is by carrying out a DOS attack with a tool called XerXes.
The Jester claims to have created this tool in for this specific use.
Yesterday (May 14th) the twitter and wordpress account associated with the Jester have been removed since they mention whenever they take a website down by tweeting/posting 'TANGO DOWN' whenever a site gets DOS'ed.
Other claims about XerXes involve the fact that it does not require a botnet in order to successfully take down a site, it hides the user by bouncing the signal around different nodes and it alters its attack depending on what defenses it encounters.
Another tool which the Jester uses is called 'Saladin' which he used to supposedly take down Jihadist websites.

The Jester's known targets are:
  • Enemies of america - Taliban
  • Wikileaks
  • Lulzsec

Amnesty International website distributing malware

The amnesty international website has been hacked and a Gh0st RAT hacking tool was inserted. The website itself distributed the RAT hacking tool to its visitors when they accessed the site.
The RAT hacking tool essentially allows the hacker to have remote control of infected devices. The hacker tool itself avoided detection by the antivirus and security applications designed to protect the amnesty website by certifying itself as a trusted application in the eyes of the Chinese certificate authority. It is yet to be known whether the hacker created a fraudulent certificate or whether it was due to negligence on the certificate authority's part.

The amnesty international site is now clean from the Gh0st RAT tool.
